Sweeps Army, 3-0
October 4, 2003 | Stats WEST POINT, NY- Senior Karla Kucerkova (Olomouc, Czech Republic/Brno) once again led the AU volleyball team to an important Patriot League victory with a match high 21 Kills and 37 attempts. The Eagles swept Army by the scores of 30-20, 30-27 and 30-23. Kucerkova led the team throughout the night with almost 50% of the kills for the team, and a .468 average for the night and a total of 23 points for the team. Courtney Mulford (San Diego, Calif./La Costa Canyon) also stood out against the Black Knights with 20 assists. The Eagles began their 3-0 match victory by scoring the first six points of the game. Although the Black Knights came within five points of the lead, the Eagles were able to hold on and win the game 30-20. The second game of the match was much closer, but the Eagles were able to continue to dominate, and not give up the lead. As the Eagles came to game point junior Natacha Cornaz (Lausanne, Switzerland/Gymnase Auguste Piccard) put the game away with one of her eight kills to give the Eagles a 2-0 advantage, and win 30-27. The Eagles continued to control the match and win the third game (30-23). AU is now 4-0 in Patriot League play, and 7-8 overall. They will be in action next weekend when they host Patriot League foes Bucknell and Colgate. Bucknell will be first on Friday, October 10th at 7 p.m. Game Summary: Kills: AU: 46; Army: 32
