AU Volleyball Falls to Temple, 3-0
Kucerkova within 54 of All-Time Career Kill record

Courtney Mulford played strong with 21 set assists.

November 5, 2003 | Stats

PHILADELPHIA-The AU volleyball team suffered a disappointing non-conference 3-0 loss to Temple, dropping the match 30-20, 30-21, 30-28. In the first loss in 12 games, junior setter Courtney Mulford (San Diego, Calif./La Costa Canyon) played strong volleyball for the Eagles with 21 set assists, while senior Karla Kucerkova (Olomouc, Czech Republic/Brno) had 18 kills.

As Kucerkova closes out her career with the Eagles, she has put herself in a position to break the decade old school record for kills currently held by Natasha Sylvain at 1660. After her match-high 18 kills against Temple, and the combined 43 kills against Army and Holy Cross, Kucerkova is now within 54 of the record.

So far during her senior season, Kucerkova has led both the league and the team in kills and points, as well as breaking the AU record for most kills per game, as the Eagles crushed the Lehigh Mountain Hawks earlier this year.

Despite the loss against Temple, the Eagles will look forward to the final Patriot League matches of the season against Colgate and Bucknell on Nov. 7-8, respectively.

Game Summary:

Kills: AU: 46; Temple: 53
Attack %: AU: .158; Temple: .415
Blocks: AU: 2; Temple: 8
Assists: AU 42, Temple: 49
