Kucerkova
Breaks All-Time Kill Record
November 14, 2003 | Stats Annapolis, Md.- Senior Karla Kucerkova (Olomouc, Czech Republic/Brno) broke the AU All-Time Career Kills record by four kills as she led the Eagles to a 3-0 (30-26, 30-23, 30-11) victory over the Navy Midshipmen. The previous record was held by Natasha Sylvain at 1660. Kucerkova is also within the Patriot League record for career kills. The Eagles took all three games over the Mids as Kucerkova dominated with 19 kills, 4 digs and a .270 hitting percentage. Also leading the Eagles was junior Natacha Cornaz (Lausanne, Switzerland/Gymnase Auguste Piccard) with eight kills and a .400 hitting percentage. The Eagles started the night out against Navy with a close first game, with neither team pulling out to an early lead. The Eagles were able to charge ahead after breaking a 16-16 tie to win the game 30-26. During game two, Navy and AU kept the game close with the Eagles only taking the lead after breaking a 19-19 tie. The game ended with the Eagles winning 30-23. As the final game of the match was played, the Eagles dominated with 17 kills and just one error in 26 attempts. The Eagles are currently
18-9 overall and 14-0 in the Patriot League. They will next take on UM-Eastern
Shore on Nov. 15 and then they will look to the Patriot League Tournament
