American Volleyball Loses Season Opener
Biddulph has 10 kills in match

GAINESVILLE, Fl. -- The American University lost its first match of the season in a tough four-game set against Brigham Young in the first round of the Campus USA Credit Union Invitational. The scores were 30-19, 30-19, 28-30 and 30-20.

Senior Karla Kucerkova (Olomouc, Czech./Republic/Brno) picked up 11 kills, six digs and scored 14 points while sophomore Cutrina Biddulph (Reseda, Calif./Granada Hillls) was one dig shy of a double double. She had 10 kills, nine digs and scored 10 points in the match. Junior Erin Allgaier (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Central) contributed eight kills and had a .333 attack percentage.

After dropping the first two games of the match by identical scores (30-19) the Eagles put together a brilliant third game, winning by two points (30-28). AU lost the fourth game by 10 (30-20).

AU will take on Florida in the second round of the Campus USA Credit Union Invitational the Eagles later this evening.
