American Volleyball Edged By Florida

Erin Allgaier picked up five kills versus Florida.

GAINESVILLE, Fl. -- The American University battled Florida tightly, but ultimately lost in three games by the scores of 30-14, 30-21, 30-16. The Eagles started each game with a lead, but could not hang on, allowing the Gators to come from behind all three times.

Senior Karla Kucerkova (Olomouc, Czech./Republic/Brno) led AU with nine kills. while junior Erin Allgaier (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Central) registered five kills and three digs. Junior Natacha Cornaz (Lausanne, Switzerland/Gymnase Auguste Piccard) finished with four kills and a block solo.

In the first game, the Eagles had gained an early 1-0 lead, but a Florida run put them up 16-7. AU would not get any closer. In the second game AU put together a late rally to cut the deficit to 29-21, before succumbing. In the third game the Eagles led 4-3 before the Gators went on a 9-3 run.

In the final match of the Campus USA Credit Union Invitational the Eagles will take on Rutgers on Saturday.
