AU Volleyball Edged by New Mexico State
Eagles to play Pittsburgh later this evening

TUSCON, Az. -- American University’s volleyball team played New Mexico State very tough in the second round of the Arizona Classic, however, they eventually lost 3-0. Sabrina Vasconcelos (Fortalezza, Brazil/Colegio Christus) led the way with 25 assists and three digs. Fellow setter Courtney Mulford (San Diego, Calif./La Costa Canyou) added eighteen assists, two kills and two block assists.

AU (2-5) dropped the first game to New Mexico State by just three, 27-30. 19-30. The final two games were equally close. The Eagles lost by two in the second game by two (34-32) and by five in the finale (25-30)

Karla Kucerkova (Olomouc, Czech Republic/Brno) led AU's attack with 17 kills and three block assists. She also chipped in 10 digs. Sophomore Cutrina Biddulph made her presence known with 14 kills and 11 digs while Jessica Tuthill contributed a total of 17 digs

The Eagles will play No. 11 Arizona in the conclusion of the Arizona Classic tomorrow at 12:00.
