AU Volleyball Falls to Pittsburgh in Final Match at Akron
Kucerkova named to All-Tournament Team

AU's Karla Kucerkova was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Akron Zips Invitational.

AKRON, Ohio -- American University's volleyball team closed out play at the Akron Zips Invitational tonight, dropping a 3-0 match to Pittsburgh. The first two games of the match were very tight, but the Eagles were unable to take a game from the Panthers. Karla Kucerkova led the way for AU with 10 kills while Jessica Tuthill added 14 digs.

American (2-4) lost the first game of the match, 30-32, and also fell in a close second game, 28-30. The Eagles could not win the third game, losing 19-30. AU was hurt by a .159 hitting percentage while the Panthers (4-2) hit .341.

Erin Allgaier posted eight kills for American and Natacha Cornaz added three aces. Cutrina Biddulph continued to lead the team in blocks, posting three block assists.

Kucerkova was named to the Akron Zips Classic All-Tournament Team after posting a career-high 33 kills last night against Akron and also leading the team in kills in the other two matches. She was also named to the all-tournament squad at the Florida Gators Classic last weekend.

American returns to action next weekend at the Arizona Classic. In addition to the hosting Wildcats, AU will face UC-Santa Barbara and New Mexico State.
