AU Volleyball Downed by No. 9 Penn State
Eagles to play Pittsburgh later this evening

Erin Allgaier had a season high nine kills against No. 9 Penn State.

AKRON, Ohio -- After winning a thrilling five-game match against Akron the night before, American University's volleyball team was unable to defeat No. 9 Penn State today, falling, 3-0. The Eagles were outhit by the Nittany Lions, .147 to .351. Erin Allgaier and Karla Kucerkova each had nine kills for American while Cutrina Biddulph added eight.

AU (2-3) dropped the first game to Penn State (6-0), 19-30. The final two games were much closer, but the Eagles fell, 25-30 and 24-30.

Sabrina Vasconcelos started her first match of the season and added 29 assists and three aces for the Eagles. Jessica Tuthill recorded her third consecutive double-digit digs match with 10. Kucerkova had seven digs and Allgaier tied her career high with six.

American concludes play at the Akron Zips Invitational later today against Pittsburgh at 5:30 p.m.
