  Silvia Johnson

Silvia Panak Johnson returned to her alma mater in her first season as a member of Head Coach Barry Goldberg's staff in 2002. Johnson's duties include recruiting, conditioning, training and assisting in day-to-day operations of the program. A 2001 graduate of American University, Johnson earned her degree in marketing.

Johnson played for two seasons at American, winning the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship both years. She was named team MVP in 1999. Johnson was also an American University Scholar-Athlete in 2000. A two-time All-CAA selection, Johnson was ranked among the NCAA leaders in aces in both of her seasons at American. Before transferring to American, Johnson played for Long Beach State and was a part of the undefeated 1998 NCAA Championship team.

Johnson still holds the school record for most assists in a match at 75, which she accomplished twice in her career. She is the career leader at AU for assists per game and is third all-time in aces per game.

In 2000, Johnson participated in the Oldsmobile-Alero U.S. Beach Volleyball Olympic Qualifier. She is also a member of the Washington D.C. Professional Volleyball team.
Johnson was the Head Coach at the Long Beach Volleyball Club from 1997-99 and the California Juniors Volleyball Club from 1996-97.
She is currently coaching the Metro American Volleyball Club.

Johnson currently resides in Rockville, Md. and was recently married to Winfred Johnson in April 2003.
