Costenbader Leads American to Third Straight Win
Over Towson
Sophomore forward scores 35 points in 69-60 victory

Katryn Costenbader scored a career-high 35 points against Towson.

TOWSON, Md.-- Sophomore Katryn Costenbader (Silver Spring, Md./St. Mary's) scored a career high 35 points to lead American (3-0) to its third straight win, a 69-60 decision over local foe Towson.

Costenbader hit 14 of 17 shots from the floor, including four three-pointers, while also nabbing a game-high nine rebounds. After returning from halftime and up 29-24, Costenbader led the Eagles on a 16-0 scoring run to take command of the second half, recording 10 points in the unanswered run.

Towson rallied late in the second half and pulled to within 65-57 with 1:23 left in the game. A fast break layup by Costenbader with 44 seconds left put American up 67-57, and junior guard Chanel Spriggs (Sunderland, Md.) sealed the American win by hitting a pair of free throws with five seconds left.

American moves to 3-0 on the season, and will take on Pittsburgh this Saturday, Nov. 24, at 2:00 p.m. in Pittsburgh, Pa.
