Women Fall, 90-79, to League Foe Bucknell February 13, 2002
American (11-12, 6-5 PL) had 16 turnovers and 16 steals in the contest as compared to 27 giveaways and only seven takeaways by Bucknell. Hollie Steinman again proved stalwart on defense, leading her team with five assists and also notching four rebounds. The Eagles struggled with field goals, however, finishing with only 42 points in the paint while the Bison garnered 48 points. The Patriot League contest was close from the outset, and the teams went into halftime with Bucknell leading by only two baskets (48-44). Yet the Bison used strong defensive play and good transitions to subdue the Eagles, finishing the night with 33 defensive assists, including a career high 17 rebounds by center Vicki Quimby. Bucknell also had 15 points off of fast break plays and 20 points off turnovers. Other Eagles in double points included Steinman (12 points) and Kaitlin Schuyler, who also finished in double figures for AU with 17 points. Molly Creamer finished with a team-high 32 points for Bucknell while Quimby had 21 and Desire Almind notched 12 points. American returns home for another Patriot League contest against Lehigh this Saturday, Feb. 16, starting at 3:15 p.m. in Bender Arena.
