Harmsen Wins Second Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week Award
American junior scored three goals in critical Patriot League game

Junior Nadia Harmsen became the first Patriot League player to win two Offensive Player of the Week awards this season.

WASHINGTON — American University junior Nadia Harmsen (Buzzards Bay, Mass./Tabor Academy) earned her second Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week award today. Harmsen scored three goals and added an assist in the American victory over Villanova. She becomes the first Patriot League player to win two offensive awards this season having also been honored on March 11.

Harmsen leads the Eagles with 16 goals on the season and 19 points. In the showdown with Villanova, Harmsen got three draw controls and added six ground balls to her three goals and assist. She is 21st in the nation in ground balls, averaging 3.36 per game. Harmsen has been extremely effective in Patriot League play, scoring 11 of her 19 points in league games.

American is currently 7-5 overall and in second place in the Patriot League at 4-1. The Eagles’ next game is on Tuesday when they host Mount St. Mary’s at 4:00 p.m. American’s final home game will be on April 20 as they play Patriot League foe Lehigh at 1:00 p.m.

American University is in its inaugural year as a member of the Patriot League. The University, founded in 1893, fields a 19-sport Division I athletics program, featuring 10 women’s sports and nine for men.
