Places Four On All-League Squad April 26, 2002
EASTON, Pa. Nicole McCarthy (Flourtown, Pa./Springfield) and Robyn Mincher (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) earned All-Patriot League first-team honors tonight as announced at the Patriot League banquet. The team was selected by the coaches of the Patriot League. Nadia Harmsen (Buzzards Bay, Mass./Tabor Academy) and Gina Riitano (Schenectady, N.Y./Albany Academy) were named to the second-team. McCarthy has had an outstanding season, leading the nation in ground balls and being second in the nation in caused turnovers. Her 81 ground balls and 49 caused turnovers are both single-season team records. McCarthy also has 10 goals and five assists on the season. Mincher has been an integral part of the defense for American this year. She has been nationally ranked in caused turnovers and has the second most on the team with 28 this year. Mincher also has 31 ground balls and two goals on the year. Harmsen has been the top scorer for the Eagles this season with 23 goals and 26 points. Harmsen's is second on the team with 56 ground balls and is ranked 10th in the nation. She also is second on the team in draw controls. Riitano is the second-leading
scorer for American with 19 goals and 21 points. Her 19 goals places her
fifth all-time for freshmen at American. Riitano is third on the team
with 45 ground balls. She also has 22 draw controls and 16 caused turnovers.
