Eagles Fall at the Sun Devil Duals
Waters takes home two individual wins

Daniel Waters took home two victories at the Sun Devil Duals in Tempe, Ariz.

TEMPE, Ariz. – Despite junior Daniel Waters (Laurel, Del./Penn State) two victories in the 184 weight class against Embry-Riddle and Missouri at the Sun Devil Duals, the Eagles were unable to take home a team victory, as they fell 23-18 and 51-3, respectively and 46-0 against Cal Poly.

Waters took home his first win of the day and the teams only win of the match against Missouri, as he defeated J.C. Russell with a decision of 9-2. Against Embry-Riddle’s David Rivera, he was able to defeat him with a fall at 3:28. Waters ended his day with a loss to No. 6 Ryan Halsey, in a 6-4 decision.

Against Embry-Riddle, Jared Hyman (Norcross, Ga./Norcross) was able to recoup from his 2:55 fall against Mike Whitehead of Missouri to defeat Robert McConkie with a 9-8 decision. Tom Kniezewski (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) also fared well for the Eagles against Embry-Riddle as he took down Tyler Moran in a 6-4 decision. Freshman Ben Lamson (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Central) rounded out the Eagles’ wins against Embry-Riddle with a 6-4 decision over Tyler Moran.

The Eagle will return to action on Jan. 9 at the Virginia Duals in Hampton, Va.
