Wrestling Captures First Victory of the Season
Daniel Waters (Laurel, Del./Penn State), who is currently ranked third in the NCAA Division I Win Leaders List and sixth in the EIWA Individual Rankings for the 184 weight class, garnered his 26th win for the season with a 19-3 technical fall (7:52) over Alan Moncavo. Senior Matt Pelligrino (Manalapan, N.J./Freehold) leading through all three rounds at 125, took his sixth victory on the season with a 9-6 decision, while in the heavyweight division, fellow senior Jared Hyman took down John Cichon in a 7:24 fall. Wrestling up a weigh-class at 157, Tom Kniezewski (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) improved his season record to 17-9 with a fall over Dan Gollin in 2:51. Daniel Lobsenz (Fairfield, Conn./Choate) also took home a win for the Eagles as he took down Justin Ensign in a 8-3 decision, in 141. In his third match
as a true freshman, Dwayne
Hash-Barberis (Rome, N.Y./Scotia Glenville) gained his first victory,
taking down Matthew Hartigan in a 17-7 decision, while Adam
Montgomery (Belmont, Calif./Junípero Serra ) took home his
first dual meet victory with an overtime 7-5 decision in 197. The Eagles improve to 1-4 for the season and will next face Eastern Michigan, Navy and UNC-Chapel Hill at 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7 in Bender Arena.
