Men’s Cross Country Places 10 on PL Academic Honor Roll
Two Eagles earn perfect 4.00 grade-point averages

WASHINGTON
-- American University’s men’s cross country team had 10 student-athletes
named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll as announced by the league
office today. Senior Jose
Morales (Silver Spring, Md./Good Counsel) and sophomore Matt
Barresi (Laurel, Md./Atholton) both earned perfect 4.00 grade-point
averages (GPA) this fall.
To be eligible for
the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point
average (GPA) in the fall semester and be awarded a varsity letter in
one of the seven league-sponsored fall championship sports. A total of
510 student-athletes were named to the fall Academic Honor Roll.
Junior Matt
Seymour (Rockville, Md./Magruder) earned a 3.75 GPA while also finishing
second in the Patriot League Cross Country Championships this fall and
earning a spot on the All-League First-Team. Senior Sean
O’Brien (Tewksbury, Mass./Winnisquam Regional), junior Frank
Malpigli (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) and sophomore Patrick
MacAdie (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxboro Regional) all earned Patriot League
Academic Honor Roll accolades while also making the Patriot League All-League
First Team.

Also earning a spot
on the Academic Honor Roll were sophomores Danny
Maurer (St. Louis, Mo./John Burroughs) and Chris
Repka (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) and freshmen Pat
Burford (Bellmore, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) and Phillip
Turner (Reedsburg, Wis./Reedsburg Area).
The Eagles captured their first Patriot League Men’s Cross Country
title this fall, winning the meet with six finishers in the top-10. Head
coach Matt Centrowitz earned
Patriot League Men’s Coach of the Year awards and seven runners
were named to the Patriot League All-League squads.
American University, which fields a 19-sport NCAA Division I athletics
program featuring 10 women’s sports and nine for men, is in its
second year of membership in the Patriot League. Since joining the Patriot
League, the University has captured league championships in men’s
cross country, women’s cross country, men’s soccer, women’s
soccer, men’s tennis, women’s tennis and women’s volleyball,
and regular-season titles in men’s basketball and women’s
lacrosse.
