Finishes 16th at U.S. Cross Country Championships
Feb. 7, 2004 | Results INDIANAPOLIS - American University’s Keira Carlstrom (Oakton, Va./Oakton) finished 16th in the 4-K race at the United States Cross Country Championships in Indianapolis Sunday. The All-American sophomore ran the snow-covered course in 13:38, missing a berth to the IAAF World Cross Country Championships by 33 seconds. The race, which featured the nation’s best professional female runners, was won by Shalene Flanagan in 12:26. The top six finishers will represent the United States in Brussels, Belgium. Carlstrom holds the fastest time in the Patriot League indoors in the mile (4:47.81). In addition, her time provisionally qualifies her for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships and is currently the 12th fastest in NCAA Division I.
