To participate in AU Abroad Fall, Spring and Full Year programs, students must be at least a second-semester sophomore, are required to have a 2.75 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and the approval of their academic advisor. Certain Partners and Providers require a higher GPA, as indicated in their description. Summer programs have 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA requirement and students must have reached sophomore status (30 credits completed) by the time of participation. Individual program descriptions indicate whether certain language and course prerequisites are required for admission. Students are normally expected to have completed their General Education courses by the end of the sophomore year, which experience serves as preparation for study abroad. General Education requirements may not be fulfilled abroad. Any student who wishes to study abroad before completing at least 80% of their General Education courses should discuss how they will plan to complete their General Education requirements on their return to AU with their academic advisor.
