We're Pursuing Christ A Purpose Higher than Ourselves With Christ as our source, we are committed to an unquenchable desire to share the love of Jesus with American University through servant leadership, continual growth, authentic and loving relationships, spiritual discipline, passionate living, and daily pursuing a purpose greater than ourselves. We pursue our mission by involving students in a community of faith. In doing so, we seek to emulate the early church, finding our strategy in their lifestyle. Specifically, we look to Acts 2:42-47 in the Bible: "They joined with the other believers and devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, sharing in the Lord's Supper and in prayer. A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together constantly and shared everything they had. They sold their possessions and shared the proceeds with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord's Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity - all the while praising God and enjoying the good will of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved." The early church focused on five elements: Prayer, Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, and Witness It is our firm conviction that this is how God wants us to live our lives. Therefore, we seek to incorporate these five elements of the Christian life into everything that we do.
