Although AU has many great dining options, sometimes you might feel the need to venture off campus to try something a little different. There are a wealth of diverse dining options just a ten-minute walk away from main campus in Tenleytown.
Tex-Mex and Burritos
Guapos has quality Mexican food and transforms into a bar and club setting at night. It is located on Wisconsin Avenue in Tenleytown. For a little more authenticity, head down to Wisconsin and Macomb to try out Cactus Cantina. They have great margaritas and can be considered some of the most authentic Tex-Mex in DC.
Chipotle is a new addition to the EagleBuck$ family and is located at Wisconsin and Warren Street, a straight shot from Tenley Campus. Always packed with AU students, this is pretty standard fare for the TDR-weary.
Pizza
Angelico’s offers great Italian food in a small pizzeria setting. They accept EagleBuck$ are located in Tenleytown on Wisconsin Avenue. For deep dish pizza, head down Wisconsin Avenue to Armand's Chicago-style Pizzeria. These pizzas are good for splitting and are really tasty if you need some serious deep dish! For authentic, Italian-embassy certified neopolitan pizza and voted best-pizza-in-DC, head to Macomb Street and try 2Amy's.
Asian
If you're looking for something a bit more upscale, Neisha has excellent Thai food. It takes EagleBuck$ and is good for an evening out. If you're in the mood for Japanese or just Asian fusion, Yosaku, Murasaki, Satay Club, and Simply Ayzn are also excellent choices. They also have great happy hours for sushi. Murasaki has affordable bento box lunches and offers an AU discount. Satay Club also accepts EagleBuck$ and delivers.
Health Food
If you’re into health food, Whole Foods has a delicious take-out buffet and many ready-to-go meals that you can reheat at home. Robek's, right next door, offers a variety of fruit smoothies and also takes EagleBuck$.
Marvelous Market isn't always healthy and can be dangerous, but offers many pastries and cakes that are delicous. They also offer salads and sandwiches to go, but beware of your wallet, because you may find yourself a little broke after a venture down here.
