Crime and Media

Pairing sections of the courses "Introduction to Systems of Justice" and "Understanding Media," this community will engage in a systematic exploration of the ways that the media inform the practices of law enforcement, and vice versa. We live in a world where news and entertainment shade into one another, and where criminals can be both punished and turned into celebrities. The issues that occur at the intersection of the media and the justice system involve critical questions that call for sustained, thoughtful analysis and discussion. A specially trained upper-level student assistant will facilitate these explorations through a variety of out-of-the-classroom activities.
