Although registering for classes is a relatively simple process for undergraduates, there are certain precautions to take that will make the process much easier. After you meet with your academic advisor, make sure you know what classes you need to take in order to fulfill your degree requirements. It is a good idea to have some general knowledge of this before you meet with your advisor, since the weeks leading up to class registration are extremely hectic for them. Planning ahead for meetings is also important because you will not be allowed to register for a class that you are currently taking the prerequisite for. Instead, your advisor must approve it first. Therefore, it is essential you let your advisor know exactly what classes you want to enroll in that require prerequisites you are currently taking. Otherwise, you might be stuck waiting for your advisor to approve you for a class, wasting time and even risking the class you want filling up. This can also be extremely inconvenient at the beginning of a new semester when you may be switching around your schedule by dropping classes and adding new ones.
