AU graduate students who participate in this independent semester experience have the unique opportunity to conduct research under the tutelage of a faculty member from Peking University, engage in internship positions in Beijing or Shaghai, and take Chinese language classes.  The China Studies Institute is located on the campus of Peking University, the most prestigious university in China. Those who wish to do research at Peking University may apply the credits to their respective M.A. degree as independent study, thesis, or SRP credit.  The program is open to all graduate students at any AU school or college.

The program runs during the Fall semester from September – December, and during the Spring semester from January – May. Although courses are taught in English, it is suggested that students take at least one Mandarin language course before applying to the program.

The application deadline for study in Fall 2010 is April 5.  For further information and to obtain an application, visit: http://www.american.edu/sis/sisabroad/gradsemester/china.cfm
