SIS Graduate Semester Abroad Program at the American University in Cairo

Created by Jennifer Khouri on 03/18/2010 // Last Update by Jennifer Khouri on 03/18/10

This graduate semester-long program offers AU students the opportunity to earn 3-9 credits toward their respective M.A. degree in courses alongside full-time AUC students.  A variety of academic fields are available, including Political Science (International Relations), Gender and Women's Studies in the Middle East and North Africa, International Human Rights Law, Middle East Studies, and Economics in International Development.  The AUC academic calendar typically runs from September – December and January – May.

Students may also choose to enroll in Arabic language courses at AUC; however, credit earned in these courses will not transfer to the AU transcript.  As AUC is an English-language institution, proficiency in Arabic is not required; however, some prior study is recommended to facilitate daily life in Cairo.  The program is open to all graduate students in any AU school or college.
