Diversity, Development, and Sustainability in the Andes

Quito, Ecuador

On this program, you will meet the many faces of Ecuador and realize how identity and politics merge in the Andes.

The program consists of two academic components worth three credits each: a seminar and an internship OR independent study. Students enjoy site visits and field trips throughout the seminar to some of the key NGOs and stakeholders in and around Quito, as well as to some of the natural and man-made wonders in Ecuador. These may include the Old City, traditional health centers, markets, Papallacta hot springs, or other sites of historic and cultural significance.

Graduate students in all majors and disciplines from any U.S. university may apply. Advanced undergraduates who have completed at least 60 credits toward the completion of their degrees are also welcome to apply. An intermediate level of Spanish is highly desired for some internship positions.
