All students entering the School of Communications must take a very rigorous writing program, no matter their fields of interest. This is where students learn to write for all media, including press releases, broadcast news, and print.


The faculty teaching in SOC are working professionals in their fields and have written dozen of books. Many are newscasters, reporters, editors, filmmakers, historians, and PR professionals. SOC professors pride themselves on being hands-on! Famous and active alumni include filmmaker Barry Levinson and the executive producers from The David Letterman Show, Meet the Press, and Everybody Loves Raymond.
