Providing a quick connection to D.C., the Tenleytown metro station is easily accessible by foot, bike, or the campus shuttle bus. It is about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the station from main campus, or about 10 minutes on the shuttle bus. Students may park their bikes at the bike racks. When travelling, be sure to prepare for about 3 minutes simply to go through the station gates. There are three escalators to take before arriving at the train platform, including one which is relatively long. Alternatively, one can take the elevator from the street level to the train platform, but be prepared to wait a couple minutes for the elevator to arrive. The farecard machines are usually in good working order, but if you ever have a question, a station attendant can be found at the booth next to the gates. Be careful that you keep your farecard away from your credit or debit cards in your wallet. The paper farecard can become demagnetized and cease to function. If this happens to you, just ask an attendant at the station booth for assistance.
