American University students and faculty have access to the Reeves Aquatics Center. There are two heated pools located indoors. One is an 8-lane NCAA regulation-size swimming pool, kept at 80 degrees. The other is a 3-lane training pool, 20 yards in length, kept at 83 degrees. The pools are located in the basement of the Jacobs Fitness Center and can be accessed from the Mary Graydon Center or on the North end of campus, to the right of the Eagle’s Nest. There are multiple slots during the day that the pool is closed to recreational swimmers and on reserve for the swim team and swim lessons. There are some floating windows that offer additional hours a few mornings during the week, but the base recreational swim hours are as follows: Monday – Friday 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Saturday 12-5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Click here for full calendar view and additional miscellaneous hours for recreational swim. Lockers are available for a fee of $60 per semester or $105 per entire year. Please bring cash, check or EagleBuck$ to the front desk at the Jacobs Fitness Center to reserve a locker or to pay guest fees. The locks are already attached to the lockers; you will be given a combination. Locker rooms open during the gym normal business hours. (Monday – Friday 6 a.m. – 10 p.m.. Saturday 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., and Sunday 10:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. You must be a member of the gym, or a guest accompanied by a member to use the pool. Membership is free for all AU students. Full-time faculty and staff can join the gym for a fee of $125/year. This can be a payroll deduction if needed. ($14.81 bi-weekly or $14.50 monthly.) There is a $10 fee/per day for each guest.
