American University has never used a wait list. Likewise, we never change admit status from spring to fall. The number of students applying for admission to American University (AU) each year continues to break records. This means that the competition for the spaces in our incoming freshman class is extremely rigorous. As a result, we were unable to offer admission to many fine candidates for the fall term. However, we believe that spring admits have much to contribute to our community, and we strongly encourage those students to pursue the Washington Mentorship Program.
