Dr. Deborah J. Clegg is Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and the Director of the Program in Clinical Nutrition in the Department of Internal Medicine, Touchstone Diabetes Research Center at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas Texas. Dr. Clegg's research been at the forefront of work aimed at increasing understanding of how metabolism differs between men and women. She has authored over 102 scientific papers and she is a current member of two NIH study sections and another study section organized by the American Diabetes Association. Dr. Clegg is also a member of the on the Editorial Boards for the journals Nutrition and Diabetes and Endocrinology. Dr. Clegg is known internationally as strong advocate for research related to women's health. Her own research contributions in this field were the subject of a feature article in Nature. In addition, Dr. Clegg was invited to share her knowledge about obesity and metabolic disease with the public during appearances on the recent HBO special Weight of a Nation and as a guest on the television show The View hosted by Barbara Walters.
