Recruit AU Students

Thank you for expressing interest in our talented students and alumni. Whether it is an in-person event or virtual interviews and sessions, we look forward to partnering with you as you develop and implement a recruitment strategy specific to American University.

Please take advantage of our online resources and services listed below and contact our Employer Relations Coordinator for more information

AU CAREERWEB

Utilize our free, comprehensive recruitment tool to post and promote your position to 15,000 registered AU student and alumni users. Also search the AU Resume Book for candidates whose qualifications match your needs. Learn more about AU CareerWeb or log in now.

JOB & INTERNSHIP FAIRS

Meet exceptional students and alumni at our fall and spring Job and Internship Fairs, which are widely regarded as the most affordable and well-organized recruiting events in the D.C. area.

ON-CAMPUS RECRUITING

Enjoy the efficiency and convenience of interviewing AU students and alumni through our free On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) program. From late September through early December and February through April, transform our fully equipped interview rooms into satellite offices for you and your recruiting team.

Utilize AU CareerWeb to request an interview date, post available positions, review resumes from qualified candidates, and select interviewees. Then contact our Employer Relations Coordinator at least 24 hours prior to your interviews to arrange for easy Internet access through your personal laptop while on campus.

To generate buzz about your upcoming on-campus interviews and further brand your organization, host an information session open to all interested students or by invitation only. Submit your afternoon or evening event request through AU CareerWeb and partner with our Employer Relations Coordinator who actively promotes OCR schedules to appropriate audiences. Due to space limitations on campus, information sessions are only accommodated for organizations conducting on-campus interviews in the same time frame, or are in the top 25 of the Desired Employers List as ranked by students through our biannual survey. As an alternative, we are happy to promote your organization's virtual events.

Employer Exchanges: the new information session

The Employer Exchange events are hosted each semester for employers seeking to hire in a dynamic recruiting environment. This conference style event features up to six organizations each delivering a 30-minute information session, in one of three rounds. A concurrent networking reception provides space for people to gather and exchange business cards and resumes while enjoying refreshments. Please contact the Employer Relations Coordinator for more information.

Fall 2017 Employer Exchange dates:
Tuesday, October 10, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Thursday, November 9, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Information Tables

To generate buzz on campus about your organization, host an information table in our bustling Mary Graydon Center, on the quad, or another high-traffic area. You will have up to three hours (free!) to interact and engage with our student population to share information about your organization, and job & internship opportunities.

Request a date through AU CareerWeb and partner with our Employer Relations Specialist, Elaine Salisbury, at esalisb@american.edu or 202-885-1852 to actively promote your session to appropriate audiences.

AU Resume Book

View the AU Resume Book with over 1,500 resumes of talented AU students and alumni currently seeking internships and full-time positions. The AU Resume Book is an online searchable database of resumes in AU CareerWeb. Employers registered in AU CareerWeb and seeking qualified candidates for specific positions may use the book to search for AU talent. Contact our Employer Relations Coordinator or 202-885-1814 with any questions.
