Washington’s Metro system directly serves Reagan National Airport and Union Station (Amtrak, MARC, VRE). The closest metro station to American University is Tenleytown/AU (also called Tenley Circle) on the Red Line.

AU operates a shuttle bus to and from the metro station every 15 minutes. To get to the shuttle stop, turn left after the second set of escalators, and at the top of the third set of escalators, walk straight ahead to the curb and wait for the bus with the AU logo. Get off the bus at the first stop on the main campus (ask the driver to alert you when the bus reaches the first main campus stop.) Refer to campus map for further directions to destination.
