NAACP Black-Green Pipeline Career Fair (Updated 1/29/13)
5:30 pm – 8:30 pm, Monday, February 11 (2013), Off Campus Location
Interested in recognizing Black History Month while also searching for internship and career opportunities in the environmental field? If so, attend the Black-Green Pipeline Career Fair on Monday, Feb. 11, at the NAACP Financial Freedom Center.
The career fair is the first in a series of Black History Month events organized by the NAACP Environmental & Climate Justice Program, which was created to educate and mobilize communities to address environmental and climate justice as a human and civil rights issue by advocating for reducing harmful emissions, advancing energy efficiency and clean energy, and improving community resilience in the face of natural disasters intensified by climate change. Given the disproportionate impact of environmental injustice on communities of color, one of the group's central aims is to build leadership in these communities.
The goal of the program is to increase opportunities for young people of color in the environmental policy and advocacy field. The career fair will allow attendees to explore job and internship opportunities from employers in the environmental field.
Students are encouraged to register for the event, which will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 11. To register, email firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, February 8. The email subject should be "Black-Green Pipeline Career Fair" and the email body should include student name, school, NAACP affiliation, email address, and phone number.
