Professor Brigid Maher on Filming Women in Islamic Cultures

Maher will share her experiences filming Muslim women religious leaders in Syria, Egypt, and Lebanon for her film Veiled Voices. She will discuss cultural challenges three women face and her approach to documenting issues of representation and ethnographic filming in the Muslim world. She will also speak about her upcoming interactive project about Women and Islam, and show a sneak preview of her current documentary, The Mama Sherpas. Register for this event

Fischer has produced interviews with U.S. Presidents, key Cabinet officials, heads of state, and presidential candidates. She will share stories from her work with leaders from the Beltway and beyond, as well as discuss her own own extraordinary career ascent - from NBC intern to producing the longest running television program in the world.
