School of International Service Internship Requirements:

While not required, internships are strongly recommended at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The minimum requirements for a three credit internship are that it be 12 weeks in duration, and 15 - 16 hours per week. Undergraduates need a 2.0 and graduate students need a 3.0 to register.

SIS Internship Advisors

Heather Ball, SIS Internship Advisor for Undergraduate Students
Heather Ball has worked at the Career Center since 1999. She works with undergraduate SIS students who are seeking internships and part time employment. Heather also coordinates the Off-Campus Federal Work Study Community Service Program. She advises students on a wide range of career planning activities from résumé design to interview techniques and other strategies. Heather truly enjoys working with college students and assisting them in achieving their goals. She looks forward to working with you in the near future.

 

 

John Charles
Internship Advisor, School of International Service (Graduate Students)
John Charles recently joined the Career Center as internship advisor for graduate students in the School of International Service. John has worked as a public school teacher; as a federal civil servant; as a program manager for a nonprofit; and as an English teacher in Japan. John is an alumnus of Oberlin College in Ohio, where he majored in Government and French.

At the U.S. Peace Corps, John worked as a placement officer for worldwide education assignments and as a country desk officer for Ukraine, the Slovak Republic and the Baltic States. Prior to that, he worked at NAFSA: Association of International Educators, advising graduate and undergraduate students from Southeast Asia on leadership and career development matters.

While in graduate school, John served as an intern for the Pacific and Asian Affairs Council in Honolulu.
