The level of development of Information Technology in Namibia is still in its infancy stages.  However, the impact of telecommunications and information technology at the present level is having a very positive effect on businesses throughout the country.

Since 1992, the government of Namibia has been building new infrastructure and upgrading the existing ones, to provide efficient and better services to all concern.  New satellites are been acquired to help provide better data transmission throughout the country.  In today's business environment, reliable data transmission to any part of the global is essential to businesses. And thanks to Telecom Namibia, businesses in Namibia enjoy a seamless data transmission services.

The market for data communications is looking for higher speed and more reliable services.  The present service provided represents leased analog line and a X-25 packet switched network.  Today the major banks are asking for digital 64 Kilobit services.  If such a service would be available the demand would also be there for high speed transmission facilities in the City of Windhoek which would also be used by insurance companies and the major private industry.
