To Outsource or not to Outsource

In general, SCM software falls into 6 main categories. These are:

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Supply chain planning (SCP) systems.
Order management systems (OMS)
Manufacturing execution systems (MES)
Warehouse management systems (WMS).
Transportation management systems (TMS)

These systems, until recently, worked in isolation. However, as the industry moves towards supply chain integration, the software manufacturers have realized that the various systems need to work together.
