Bolivia the Telecommunications Frontier

Transborder Data Flows

Bolivia currently does not have laws regarding Internet privacy due to the newness of the Internet in Bolivia. Bolivia is a member of ICANN and many web sites in Bolivia have a Privacy Policy.    Unfortunately, software piracy rates are high at 85%.  If this is an indication of Bolivian's view of online rights and privacy, it will be interesting to see how personal privacy and individual rights will be viewed and administered in Bolivian's online community.

Many different standards have been established throughout the online world for personal privacy.  While privacy is highly value in the US, it is viewed differently in many European countries.  It remains to be seen which path Bolivia will take in maintaining levels of privacy for its online users.
