Union Island
St. Vincent
Most of the major information technology activities of SVG take place in or around the capital city of Kingstown.  The only offshore data processing company that exists in St. Vincent, NetData, is located in downtown Kingstown.  However, there is an industrial estate called Diamond Industrial Estate located about 7 miles north of the capital on the east coast.   The infrastructure is in place at the estate, however, no actual building have been constructed.  It is here that many believe the government will locate the "Informatics Park" , however, as previously mentioned there is no legislation or any paper decisions as of yet regarding this project. According to Apollo Knights of the Ministry of Communication and Works in St. Vincent, the  Free Trade Zones Act passed last year by the government refers to the Industrial Park at Diamond.  With this act,  it will be possible for companies that are operating within the trade zone to establish their own external communications links to facilitate their operations e.g Vsats, Earth stations etc. This will provide direct links with countries such as the U.S, hence bypassing C&W and their high rates. The government hopes that the trade zone will attract companies that are operating call
centers, data processing, software engineering etc.(2)
