Catalysts are College of Arts and Sciences students who assist the Undergraduate Advising Office at recruitment events and programs for the College and AU by speaking with prospective students and their families. They work closely with the CAS Academic Counselors and the Assistant Director of Retention and Recruitment to engage prospective students on a peer level and provide a student perspective at College of Arts and Sciences recruitment activities. In preparation for work with prospective students, catalysts will receive extensive leadership training to enhance and expand skills.
If you would like to get involved with Catalyst Ambassador Program, please complete the Catalyst Interest Form.
Training for CAS Catalysts will consist of one half day training with monthly meetings for the remainder of the academic year.
CAS Catalysts are required to participate in the following:
Recruitment/Yield events: Preview Days, Freshmen Days, Overnights, and Contacting Prospective/Admitted students
Monthly meetings on Wednesday evenings from 4:00-4:30 p.m.
Good Academic and Judicial Standing:
The College of Arts and Sciences will examine academic and judicial records of applicants to ensure good academic and judicial standing at American University. Please be advised that a judicial record will not necessarily prohibit the College of Arts and Sciences from making an offer to join.
