About Art Works Now
Established in Mount Rainier, MD, in 2011, Art Works Now’s mission is to create a stronger community through the arts. We achieve this with affordable, content rich art classes and exhibition projects. Our core value of social justice is activated through the content of our programming, our commitment to reducing economic barriers to art education and experience, and the long-term, accountable relationships we nurture with our community. Art Works Now is committed to teaching art technique, encouraging each student to “see” in their own way, and providing multiple opportunities to explore, express and demonstrate their vision.
The Abramson Family Fellowship at Arts Works Now
In early 2016 Art Works Now will move into our new home at 4800 Rhode Island Avenue in Hyattsville Maryland. The Abramson Family Fellow at Art Works Now will act as the Gallery Director, responsible for curating and scheduling exhibitions beginning with the inaugural exhibition in February 2016 and continuing through 2017. Once the gallery is operational, and for the duration of the Fellowship, the Fellow will also be responsible for all aspects of exhibit installation, exhibition logistics, the creation of press releases, and community outreach to maximize visibility.
