Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Mass in C Minor, K. 427
Schubert: Symphony No. 8, "Unfinished"
Left in a fragmented state, Mozart's masterful Mass in C Minor stands as the most ambitious large-scale liturgical undertaking between Bach's Mass in B Minor and Beethoven's Missa solemnis. An inspired offering intended to honor his soon to be wife Constanze, the Great Mass stands as one of the most sublime works in all of the choral-orchestral literature.
Schubert's Unfinished Symphony remains a mystery to this day, almost 200 years after it was written. Schubert completed the first two movements of the piece in 1822 but left them on their own, even though he would live for another six years.
