Do You Know Outstanding AU Alumni? Make a Nomination For The 2013 Alumni Awards.

Alumni Awards 2013

What do chief executive officer Neale F. Lunderville, SPA/BA ’96, nonprofit program director Genna Griffith, CAS/BA ’01, D.C. restaurant owner Ron Vogel, CAS/BA ’72, and business executive Richard Golaszewski, Kogod/BSBA ’07, have in common? They were all 2012 recipients of AU’s prestigious alumni awards. Do you know an alumnus or alumna who you want to nominate for 2013?

Since 1948, the university’s Alumni Association has been rewarding outstanding alumni for their dedication, leadership, and service to American University and the communities where they live and work. Recipients are generous men and women who offer their time and energy because they are tied to the professional and philanthropic roots they established as students at American University.

The Alumni Achievement Award recognizes outstanding alumni who have distinguished themselves through their professional accomplishments. In 2012, Neale F. Lunderville received this award for his successful career in government and as Chief Executive Officer of NG Advantage, LLC.

The Alumni Recognition Award is given to alumni who inspire the world around them through service to the community or a philanthropic mission. The 2012 recipient, Genna Griffith, is program director of the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans. Genna dedicates her life to enhancing the lives of our nation’s heroes.

Since 2006, the Alumni Association has presented the Rising Star Award, which recognizes young alumni (those who received their undergraduate degrees within the past 10 years) who are already making significant contributions to society through professional or philanthropic work. Last year’s recipient, Richard Golaszewski, is vice president in equity derivatives at Nomura Securities in New York City. Rich donates his time to developing AU’s young alumni presence in the NYC finance community.

In its third year, the Alumni Eagle Award recognizes those who have rendered outstanding service to the university and/or the Alumni Association. Last year’s award was presented to Ron Vogel, co-owner of Booeymonger, a renowned D.C. metro area delicatessen. Ron is an active supporter of WAMU, men’s basketball, and new student programs. Voices like his instill pride and evoke positive change in American University.

You have the opportunity to nominate an exceptional AU alumnus/a for the 2013 awards, which will be celebrated at All-American Weekend in October.
