Greetings from Chip Griffin
As the end of 2013 draws near, the American University Alumni Relations team stands ready to roll out some new beginnings. With the holiday season being about both giving an receiving, we have your bases covered on both fronts.
For those who like to receive, check out the new website that features exclusive savings on all sorts of things — from travel to appliances and much more. If giving is more your thing, then you can join me in being excited for a new crowdfunding feature that will allow all of us to lend our support to specific campus projects in a way that was never before possible.
Today’s AU students are certainly grateful for the support that alumni provide. They just recently participated in a thanksGIVING event where they reached out to donors to express appreciation for contributors, especially those who have helped to fund scholarships — something particularly important in these challenging economic times. Of course, alumni give back not just with their money, but also their time. You can read about a trip some students recently took to New York to meet with alumni there.
Finally, this month’s alumni profiles include a feature about Cynthia Augustine who wrote a children’s book titled Hello, Clawed! Can you guess what that’s about?
I hope that all of my fellow AU Eagles have an enjoyable holiday season, and I’ll see you back here (and maybe even on campus) in the new year.
