Karen Bushaw-Newton, PhD
Assistant Professor

I am broadly interested in the micobial ecology and biogeochemistry of aquatic systems and the restoration of degraded aquatic systems. My current projects are concerned with defining the prevalence of microbial resistance to select antibiotics in aquatic systems; understanding the cycling of organic matter and nutrients in stream systems with small dams; and determining the role of microbial and photochemical processes in coastal and freshwater ecosystems.
