Research Interests:

  • Cave biology, evolutionary biology, population and community ecology.
  • Phylogenetic reconstruction of cave, karst window, and surface populations of Gammarus minus using random amplification polymorphic DNA and rhodopsin gene sequence.

Current Projects:

  • Quantitative Analysis of Retrogressive Evolution in the Amphipod Gammarus minus.
  • Reversal of Eye Size Evolution in the Amphipod Gammarus minus.
  • Evolution of Eye Size in the Amphipod Gammarus minus
  • Recovery Plan for the Madison Cave Isopod, Antrolana lira, a Threatened Species on the federal and state (Virginia) lists.
  • Determination of epikarstic flow in a cave stream.
