Dr. Kathleen DeCiccco-Skinner is interested in Inflammatory response
and molecular biology of lung cancer. She uses microarray analysis
of genes and proteins to study changes to abnormal lung cancer cells
that are treated with potential chemotherapeutic agents. Contact
her at decicco@american.edu.
Dr. David Angelini is interested in developmental genetics in
the context of evolution in animal form. By exploring the function,
regulation and evolutionary history of genes, as well as their networks
of interactions, morphological structures can be understood in terms
of the developmental changes that have led to animal diversity.
Insects and other arthropods have been my focus, particularly beetles,
in which I’m currently exploring the functional diversity
and evolution of genes controlling the development of appendages.

Hurst Hall Teaching Lab room 103, Support Lab room 106B, and David
Angelini's research Lab in room 109 have been renovated over the summer.
Come check out the new labs.
Don't miss a chance to commune with
nature on the Billy Goat's Trail. Biology is organizing
the hike on Sunday, August 31st. Meet in the Hurst lobby at 9 AM for
a free ride and a light lunch afterwards.
Everyone is invited to the Biology BBQ
on Friday, August 29th.Meet the faculty
and your fellow Biology majors for a free lunch between Hurst and SIS
buildings!!!
