David Crystal, Honorary Professor of Linguistics
at the University of Bangor (Wales), will deliver a talk based upon his role as 'Master of Shakespearian Pronunciation' at Shakespeare's Globe, London, in 2004 and 2005 for their productions of Romeo and Juliet and Troilus and Cressida. He will discuss the evidence, illustrate the way Early Modern English pronunciation can refresh and
add insight to the plays, and reflect on the impact on players and audience. Questions and refreshments to follow the talk.
