"The Founders of Israel and Their Relevance Today: David Ben Gurion," Lecture by Anita Shapira (Updated 10/7/13)

Dr. Anita Shapira will present, "Ben Gurion: Leadership and the Shaping of History" the second lecture in the series "The Founders of Israel and their Relevance Today" about David Ben-Gurion, Israel's first prime minister. Shapira is professor emerita of Tel Aviv University, senior fellow at the Israel Democracy Institute, and the founder and first director of the Itzhak Rabin Center. She is the author of Israel: A History (Brandeis 2012) and is currently writing a biography of David Ben Gurion, the founder of the State of Israel. She was awarded the Israel Prize in History (2008). Introduction by Michael Brenner, Seymour and Lillian Abensohn Chair in Israel Studies. Reception at 9:00 p.m. following lecture. Co-sponsored by CIS, the Department of History, the Jewish Studies Program and the Israel Institute.
