International Day of the Girl (Updated 10/5/12)
4:00 pm – 5:30 pm, Thursday, October 11 (2012), Battelle-Tompkins Atrium
The United Nations adopted a resolution to designate October 11 International Day of the Girl Child, which aims to:
- Break the cycle of discrimination and violence suffered by girls worldwide.
- Empower girls to participate meaningfully in decisions that affect them.
- Demonstrate that investment in girls is a critical step needed to eradicate poverty.
